Chevrolet redid the names for its radically redesigned 1958 models, leaving the popular Bel Air at the top of the heap. But in place of the bare-bones 150 and mid-range 210 series came the Del Ray and Biscayne with either six-cylinders or V-8s, just like the top-dog Bel Air.
Also new in the Bel Air ranks was the '58 Impala, available as a two-door sport coupe or convertible. Deluxe wheelcovers, simulated vents ahead of each wheel, and six taillights (in place of the Bel Air's four) set this flashy flagship apart from its running mates.
The Impala sport coupe's roof also curved down in shorter fashion compared to the Bel Air, and its rear glass was crowned by another simulated air extractor. Standard inside was a sport steering wheel, tri-tone upholstery and color-keyed door panels with brushed-aluminum inserts. Bringing up the interior?s rear was a backseat incorporating a center armrest and a centrally located radio speaker.
This 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible. Runs as good as it looks. Great running and strong 350 motor with an automatic transmission. Always well taken care of and kept in a garage.
